Lavanya Goel

Picture
I'm Lavanya, a rising senior at Prospect Hill Academy. I enjoy learning all things related to STEM, but especially love computer science and artificial intelligence. I hope to be a CS major in college. In my free time I like to read sci-fi books and watch sci-fi movies. The idea of robots taking over the world intrigues me and is something I look forward to seeing.

I planned to work on the website for the nonprofit fuerza.is but that seemed to be a bit too complicated so I have started developing my site for Emerge. Although it isn't very far along yet, here is my site.

My Github

I've used my Github to create my personal website and started creating my first game with it as well.

My Resume

My resume includes my extracurriculars, education, and other information about what I have done.

Cinematography

I learned about different angles and shots used in cinematography to create different effects. Here are 3 videos I created to practice these shots and angles.
1) Zoom Shot: www.youtube.com/watch?v=6Vv5XfaZENY
2) Dolly Shot: www.youtube.com/watch?v=E7Vsf4aJpGE
3) Tilt: www.youtube.com/watch?v=yV0x_EC1bac

Coding Progress

I have been learning to code in Python, HTML, CSS, and Javascript. This links to all the badges I have earned while learning these languages on Codecademy.

Game Dev Progress

While learning about the requirements for a game, I watched an interactive movie and wrote a paragraph about whether I believe it is a game or not. I have also started creating my first game through GitHub.

App Development

In the process of creating an app, I first came up with 3 ideas which I outlined in this doc. Once I shared these ideas with my peers and reflected on the requirements of each idea, I decided to go with an app for decision making. I drew out what I expected the different screens to look like and uploaded my images to this doc.
Picture
This is basically an app to help indecisive people make sensible decisions. It will consider the pros and cons of each of your options and tell you which option to choose based on the number of pros each has. I also plan to include a simpler option of a coin toss for users who do need to make a quick decision and don't have the time to list out all the pros and cons of their choices. Although there are already many decision making apps in the market, most of them make decisions at random. My app, however, will make thought-out decisions to help the user make the best choice possible for their situation. To reach out to my market, I will probably start by spreading my app around my school to other students, then I might expand by advertising on social media.

Music Blocks Work

I am also working on contributing to this open source project. The image to the left links to the issue I will be trying to fix.
During this, I have been able to fork the original git repository to create a repo for myself to work in. I am now working on reading and understanding the code in order to find what I need to change to fix the problem.
